Johnson is chair, director of graduate studies, professor of Performance Studies and of African American Studies at Northwestern University. He is the author of Appropriating Blackness: Performance and the Politics of Authenticity (Duke University Press, 2003). He is co-editor, with Mae G. In Spanish with subtitles, this film shows one example of gay life both outside the US and before Stonewall. Starring Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men) and others, with Johnny Depp making an appearance in two different roles.
